How this voice typing tool works
It uses the Web Speech API, the speech recognition your browser already ships with. Nothing to download, nothing to sign up for, and your text never touches our servers (there are none).
1. Pick a language
Fourteen locales, from US English to Japanese. The recognizer listens in the language you choose.
2. Click the mic and talk
Speak naturally. A live preview shows words as you say them, then the final text lands in the box.
3. Edit, copy, download
The box is a normal text field. Fix anything, then copy it or save it as a .txt file.
Fair questions
Is this voice typing tool really free?
Yes. It is completely free and unlimited, with no account and no signup. It uses the speech recognition already built into your browser, so there is nothing to pay for and no word cap to hit.
Does it work offline?
No. In most browsers the speech recognition runs in the cloud, so you need an internet connection. For offline dictation you need an on-device app like OpenFlow, which transcribes everything locally on your Mac, with no audio ever leaving your machine.
Why does it stop listening by itself?
Browsers pause speech recognition after a stretch of silence, and some cap how long a single session can run. This tool restarts recognition automatically the moment the browser stops it, so you can keep talking and your words keep flowing until you press stop.
Which browsers work best?
Chrome and Edge are the most reliable, since Google's speech engine backs both. Safari works on a Mac. Firefox does not support voice typing yet, so use one of the others for this tool.
